Elementare is a night-time performance that unfolds over the course of an entire night and invites audience and performers to share the same space and the same time, until dawn.
It is not a traditional show, but an immersive and communal experience in which people can freely enter and exit, while remaining within a collective ritual that continues even as someone sleeps or moves through the space.

In a space designed for rest, with mattresses, blankets and soft lighting, a temporary community is formed that passes together through the hours of the night until dawn.
Six a cappella voices accompany this suspended time with songs that become presence, relation and mutual listening. Poetic texts are slowly written on white sheets, creating a visual landscape.

Throughout the night, a continuous tension unfolds between: fatigue and duration, silence and sound, waking and falling asleep, individual and collective.

The final dawn is not only a closing moment, but the result of a shared passage: something that “happens” because a group of people has chosen to stay, listen and inhabit time until the very end.

IN SHORT

The audience, lying on mattresses, experiences an immersive and communal event: a night suspended between sleep and wakefulness, waiting for the arrival of the day. Six a cappella voices, through songs and silences, accompany time until dawn, creating a collective ritual.

Amigdala is a non-profit cultural association and artistic collective based in Modena, active since 2008 in the field of contemporary and performing arts. The collective develops multidisciplinary works — performance, public art, installations, soundscapes — with a site-specific and community-specific approach: works that emerge from dialogue with the places and communities that inhabit them.

Among its main projects are Periferico Festival, dedicated to the connections between performing arts, urban space and local communities, and OvestLab (since 2017, in collaboration with the Municipality of Modena), a multidisciplinary cultural centre working as a civic factory within urban regeneration processes. Amigdala’s productions are presented in Italy and abroad in festivals and cultural institutions.
