People are obsessed with ideas — but also with things.
She She Pop, one of the most acclaimed independent companies in Europe, addresses the issue of ownership, which is now more than ever at the center of contemporary life.
Those who have nothing are forced to give of themselves. But even those who have too much, it is said, end up being obsessed with it.
Thus the community of the possessed is born.
Possessed is a collective monologue: a chorus of voices that question, clash and contradict each other.
Phrases projected on a large screen invite the audience to take a stand.
The theatre reinvents itself: there is no passive audience or actors on stage.
There is a community that exposes itself, confronts itself, takes the floor.
A confused, divided, but alive community — that reflects on ownership and the distortions it generates. An original and surreal experience, which one rarely has the opportunity to live.
IN A NUTSHELL
Possessed is an original and surreal theatrical experience, where the audience becomes the protagonist. A chorus of voices, a large screen, no actors: just a community that questions the meaning of ownership.

She She Pop is a performing arts collective founded in the late 1990’s by a group of graduates of the “Applied Theater Studies” in Gießen. It has been based in Berlin since 1998. The members — including Sebastian Bark, Johanna Freiburg, Lisa Lucassen, Mieke Matzke, Ilia Papatheodorou, Berit Stumpf and producer Elke Weber — consider themselves authors, playwrights and performers of their own works. Autobiographical material is used as a creative method, within a highly experimental theatrical practice.
The stage becomes a space of utopian communication, where languages, structures and social rituals are put to the test. Since 2003 they have been working steadily with HAU Hebbel am Ufer and with numerous international partners.
Among their best-known works: Testament (2010), Schubladen (2012), Ende (2014), 50 Grades of Shame (2016), Besessen (2016), The Ocean is Closed (2017) and Oratorio (2018).
At the end of the show, an aperitif will be offered by Proposta Vini to the audience, both male and female.
