It is well known, yet no longer seems to cause outrage: Italy ranks among the lowest in Europe for gender equality. Female employment is among the lowest, women are paid less than men, and many illnesses remain under-recognised simply because they affect women.
“Every woman has been called ‘Exaggerated’ at least once in her life when pointing out inequality. This word, used to tone down our potential for protest, traps us and silences us. And yet, throughout history, the greatest achievements have been driven by ‘Exaggerated’ women.”
From this comes a true “course in exaggeration”: a stand-up comedy (or tragedy) that weaves together data, facts, and storytelling to entertain, provoke, and set the record straight.
IN SHORT
An ironic monologue tackling gender inequality in Italy, from work and healthcare to economic violence.
Through facts and data, “exaggerated” becomes a word to reclaim—and turn into a force for change.
