Tacet is a performance about the “minute of silence”: a moment in which bodies come to a halt, time is suspended, and thought confronts the presence or absence of someone or something.
The idea originates from a 1918 recording marking the transition from war to ceasefire: six lines on paper register three seconds of war and three of peace, separated by the armistice, making silence something measurable.
On stage, six performers give body to this structure: they move through space like on a chessboard, take turns at microphones, walk, and mark time until they share a real minute of silence with the audience.
Silence is not emptiness, but a time filled with attention, expectation, and memory. Through concrete examples of collective minutes of silence throughout history and public life, the performance shows how this simple gesture becomes a collective ritual that brings together different people within the same suspended time.
IN SHORT
A performance about the minute of silence: six performers recreate and explore it on stage with the audience, starting from multiple concrete examples, transforming it into a shared collective ritual.

Jacopo Giacomoni, with a degree in Philosophy with a thesis on fictional characters, is a playwright and performer. In 2025 he won the 58th Riccione Prize for Theatre with Tacet, after the Biennale Teatro “Autori” call in 2024 and an honorable mention for the Franco Quadri Prize in 2023. His research, of a structuralist nature, explores theatrical devices open to chance and audience participation. His works take hybrid and experimental forms, between scenic games, rituals, and interventions on existing texts. As a performer, he combines acting and musical practice, working on improvisation and unconventional sounds.
Silvia Costa, a graduate of IUAV University of Venice, is an actress, director, and visual artist. She began her career with Romeo Castellucci’s Societas Raffaello Sanzio, becoming his artistic collaborator. Since 2007 she has developed an independent practice of visual and poetic theatre, exploring the power of images. A finalist at the Premio Scenario in 2013, she also works regularly in France as a director. Active between theatre and opera, in 2022 she was awarded the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.
