Overtourism is an act of urban theatre.

It is the result of a research process carried out within an advanced theatre training programme for artists under 35, led by Babilonia Teatri and Fabrizio Arcuri. OVERTOURISM is a space for research and shared creation that weaves together artistic practice, critical reflection, and collective work.

At the heart of the project lies the theme of overtourism, seen as one of the most evident tensions of the present: a growing imbalance between those who inhabit places and those who pass through them. OVERTOURISM invites participants to engage with these contradictions, building an original dramaturgy that intertwines personal experiences, theoretical materials, articles, and narratives. The work develops in direct dialogue with urban space, among historic buildings and everyday places, fostering a gaze and sensitivity that connect body, landscape, and community.

The project is promoted by Pergine Festival in collaboration with Estate Teatrale Veronese, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture and SIAE, within the “Per Chi Crea” programme.
