The photographs of Pippo Delbono, recent recipient of the Ubu Award for lifetime achievement, are a living part of his creative process. The images are taken during performances, tours, and travels: cities and landscapes become temporary stage sets.
In this selection of 28 images, theatre expands until it coincides with the world.
The camera becomes an extension of the stage gaze.

His way of photographing is not documentary: the images do not seek perfection or balance, but embrace displacement, blur and unexpected framing. It is the same gaze as in his theatre, where form arises from expressive urgency rather than structured composition.

Bodies, faces, statues, and reflections intertwine in a single flow, where the human and the inanimate constantly meet. Even figures such as Lou Reed or Tilda Swinton become presences among others, bodies listening to the world.

At the center is Bobò: a gaze that holds together fragility and wonder, turning these images into an intimate diary of travel and encounter, between stage and life.

IN SHORT

The photographs of Pippo Delbono are taken during performances and travels, where theatre opens onto the world. In 28 images, an essential and irregular gaze transforms people and objects encountered into an intimate diary between life and theatre.
