Il cane infernale is a show for all ages (from 3 years old) in which Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner have a heated discussion about melodrama and tragedy. Offended, Wagner unleashes his dog Tannhäuser to devastate the city. After vain attempts to stop him, it will be Verdi to tame the beast, using thought instead of the usual violence. In the end, it will be music that tames the Beast. Produced by Castello dei Burattini to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s birth, the show is an aironic reflection on contemporary society. The puppeteer, today, faces apathy and fanaticism, trying to restore centrality to the puppet as a living and communicative figure. Giuseppe Verdi, here, becomes a symbol of rebirth, of art that resists and renews itself.
