Culbuto is a poetic and acrobatic solo by Vincent Martinez, suitable for all ages. The show explores overcoming one’s own limits alongside the ability to live every moment to the fullest. On stage, a man challenges himself between balance and instability, swinging on an original circus apparatus: the “mât Culbuto”, a hemispherical machine that naturally tends to fall off balance. With intelligence and irony, Martinez plays with risk, resistance and emotion, maintaining a frenetic pace that continually puts him to the test. The audience witnesses a delicate play of forces, in which accepting, resisting and letting go become acts of courage. Culbuto invites us to swing together towards the unknown, reminding us that life, like the sea, is in constant movement.

The Cie Mauvais Coton Company, founded in 2006 by Anne-Lise Allard and Laure Raoust, was born with the aim of creating innovative shows for contemporary circus. The company uses original circus structures to convey committed messages. The first work, Passage, deals with the theme of exile. Since 2009 they have been collaborating with the musician Georges and the inventor of the “mât Culbuto”, Vincent Martinez, which revolutionizes their shows. Among their most famous works are; Justa Pugna, 3 petites pièces and 1 grande gueule, where poetry, music and circus merge. Their works deal with profound themes such as limits, identity and human bonds. With Ploie sous mon poids (2020), they explore impermanence. The company continues to evolve, involving a dozen artists. Mauvais Coton is today synonymous with poetic and experimental circus.
