Undressing the Mythic Body
We all have our own personalised myths that help us to understand the past, position us in the present and to navigate our way through life. Particular details of a person, place or event may often become obscured, warped or romanticised in our minds by our feelings at that time and through the filter of memory.
In this ten day workshop we will look at individual memories and attempt to give them new life through translating them into costume and extending these stories from the internal to the external. The term “costume” is very much in flux here and participants are encouraged to be as expressive, abstract and creative with their realisations as possible. The intangible is welcome. Over the ten days of the workshop we will develop the ideas, resulting in a final event on Saturday 6th July where the costumes will be activated to reawaken these past lives, forgotten identities and moments of uncertainty.
