The difference between a dance created in the context of a school like ours and one created in a company, lies in the consumption of time. The Mòra school deals with time as a condition to be measured. The rhythm permeates the whole life of the school, even before triggering the production of a performance. The dance composed then corresponds to the natural conclusion of a study, not to the objective that finalizes all the days of rehearsal.
Claudia Castellucci
Verso la specie is a dance performance that pursues and reproduces the consecutive emergence of images in an abstract and essential way; a choral walk built starting from traditional canons inspired by the metric of archaic Greek poetry and the movement of horses, which owes its propulsive origin to music.
Claudia Castellucci’s artistic research focuses on the sense of rhythm and on the rhythmic structure of movement, paying particular attention to the pauses, in an attempt to live the passage time between one gesture and another, to maintain the same intensity throughout the duration of the performance, emphasizing the “here and now”. Dance, in this sense, is a discipline about the actual occurrence of movement, such as athletics, and not the representation of an expressive pantomime.
Corporeality is exclusively oriented by choreographic schemes that delineate a narrative and expressive function; dance thus becomes the revelation of the individual presence of each dancer, which stands out from – and thanks to – the choral movement.
