“The Legend of the Holy Drinker” by Joseph Roth talks of the last days of an ordinary man, who could live in any undefined corner of any modern city. The story, in fact follows the life of Andreas, a homeless man who has distanced himself from middle class and material needs. In the existential parable of the latter, you can find the intimate essence and the true nature of man. This also happens to the Holy Drinker, purity and obscurity live within him in a narrative design, which has the flavour of a show-down for all humanity, faced with all its limits and idiosyncrasies.
Why you should see it ➜ “AriaTeatro is Pergine’s theatrical company: they take care of the city’s theatre all year. We welcome the premier of their new work to the festival. A reflection on the decadence of our times.”
