We got to dance. We have to dance. Every morning. And every night. And we have to smile. Who does not smile is punished. Who protests, is punished. And every day, goes by the same.
[Happy Hour, Chapter 15]
After winning numerous international awards and having enjoyed great success with audiences and critics all over the world with La Merda, already applauded also by the audience of Pergine Festival, Cristian Ceresoli writes a new lysergic text, as if it were the second fragment of a same landscape, as if these two works illuminated parts of the same painting.
In this piece, the writer discovers a new world where a brand new and highly effective form of a cheerful totalitarianism is emerging. Silvia Gallerano, the acclaimed actress in La Merda, embodies the little Ado, a girl hungry for love, while Stefano Cenci, a unique and powerful interpreter, is her brother Kerfuffle.
A script in which there are amusing mass deportations, and where the most colorful of fascisms is affirmed. A “trendy” poem at the overwhelming rhythm of a never-ending “happy hour”, in a deliriously renewal of artistic language, traversed by human beings who enjoy life, dress in a leopard-style code and are ready to do anything to defend their enthusiasm. A very modern tragedy where you die laughing, as slaughtering beasts.
