Pergine Spettacolo Aperto wins the Best Territory Award, the “Oscar awards2 for Italy’s festivals
On Thursday 10 the 2011 FoF awards – the national awards for festivals – were granted in Bologna. The participation at the 3rd edition was great: more than 200 requests were presented and more than 100 festivals participated in the competition. Among the 15 prize winners are prestigious festivals, such as the Roma Europa Festival, MITO, the Festival of science in Genoa, as well as brand-new festivals, such as the one about responsible innovation of Forlì (winner of the start-up category). The prizes were given in support of a sector that despite the economic crisis is currently thriving. The aim is to point out these outstanding cultural activities to the media, the institutions, the market and the festival community itself. Awards are granted to the best communication methods (best placard, best web site, best paper program and best acronym), for partnerships (with institutions, bank foundations and private sponsors) and for innovation and effectiveness on the public and the territory. Pergine Spettacolo Aperto turned out to win one of the most sought-after prizes: the Best Territory Improvement Award. The prize was awarded ex-equo together with “Peperoncino Jazz”, a festival which links 30 municipalities in Calabria.
Cristina Pietrantonio, the artistic director of Pergine Spettacolo Aperto since 2007, collected the award and dedicated it to all the volunteers who support the festival: “This award touches us and most importantly demonstrates the kindness and quality of the choices we have made so far. This certainly helps us in the challenging task of demonstrating to our interlocutors that a soft change is indeed taking place”. Pergine Spettacolo Aperto through its “art of being out” collaborates with several local and international associations and institutions and with its 36 years of activity is demonstrating the passion and vitality of an emerging festival.
The regions Trentino-Alto Adige and Puglia are the ones who received the most awards. In Trentino-Alto Adige, not only Pergine Spettacolo Aperto but also Bolzano Danza was awarded both for best printed program and best action on the audience.
