    OPEN // CONTEMPORARY [URBAN] CREATION 2020

    The call for proposals for OPEN // CONTEMPORARY [URBAN] CREATION  returns. For the ninth edition, the call promoted by Pergine Festival continues to give the opportunity to Italian and foreign artists to develop projects in dialogue with the urban space, supported their production and distribution by a network of institutions that grows year after year. You have time until 12 (midday) on 12 December 2019 to apply.

    Pergine Festival’s research on the relationship between art and urban space continues, together with the support to companies and artists who wish to present their participatory projects which involve the audience, audio-visual performances, artistic installations suited to city spaces, contaminations between performative languages and new technologies. For the ninth consecutive year, the Pergine Festival promotes the OPEN call for proposals.

    The call aims at artists (individuals, companies or collectives) who operate in Italy or abroad in the field of performing arts, architecture and new technologies. Its objective is to develop projects that are able to engage a dialogue with the city and its inhabitants, enhancing the public sphere and temporarily transforming the places and relationships that characterize them.

    “The OPEN call for proposals is an important appointment for us – explains the artistic director of Pergine Festival, Carla Esperanza Tommasini – which shows our interest in supporting new artistic projects together with other Italian institutions, but above all expresses our desire to act at different levels on and around the city of Pergine, offering an opportunity to experience the places in an unusual way and involving citizens. This is precisely the identity of Pergine Festival and the OPEN call is its expression ».

    Since last year, thanks to an intense network built by Pergine Festival, OPEN is supported by a network of Italian institutions that has grown even more by 2020. OPEN 2020 is in fact supported by: Zona K (Milan), In\Visible Cities (Gorizia),  Contaminazioni digitali (Cormons), Indisciplinarte / Ternifestival (Terni) – already present for the 2019 edition – the new comers are: Giardino delle Esperidi (Campsirago) and Festival Periferico (Modena). A network of institutions that increasingly add new skills and economic support for artistic creation.

    The positive experience of 2019, as an experiment and synergy between similar national institutions, pushed Pergine Festival and the network of partners to propose again for the year 2020 a double version of the OPEN call for proposals, which offers artists the possibility of presenting a finished project, or of creating a new work with support from the network that goes far beyond production.

    The project submission can in fact be presented for two distinct categories:

    – the hospitality of projects already carried out elsewhere and adaptable to the reality of the Pergine area which will then be included in the programs of the 5 partner institutions;

    – the complete support for a new and original production, which is supported not only with a budget of 9,500 euros, but also with a co-production path of residences, creative and promotional support thanks to the synergy between the partners who offer their skills at the service of national and international artistic platforms. The new work will have a first ‘in progress’ presentation at the Contaminazioni digitali Festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia and a preview at the Il Giardino delle Esperidi Festival (Campsirago), followed by a premiere debut in Pergine: later it will be presented also at Zona K in Milan.

    The application form is available and can only be completed online at perginefestival.it website and the deadline for submission of applications is set for 12 noon on December 12th 2019.

    The selection committee is composed by: Alessandro Cattunar (In\Visible Cities – Gorizia), Carla Esperanza Tommasini (Pergine Festival), Chiara Organtini (Indisciplinarte / Terni Festival), Federica Rocchi (Periferico Festival, Modena); Lisa Gilardino (curator and performing arts manager) ,Michele Losi (Campsirago residency / Il Giardino delle Esperidi Festival – Lecco), Valentina Kastlunger and Valentina Picariello (Zone K – Milan).
