The Autumn edition is cancelled.

One day after its beginning, the curtain will remain lowered, the seats empty, the applause suspended.

We taste bitterness in our mouths. It has been days of waiting and suspension, astonished and incredulous hours.

We feel a deep sense of injustice.

Some artists had already arrived in Pergine, some installations had already begun, some accommodations already hosted the many people who make a festival possible. All the security protocols were ready. The city was covered with our posters.

The sacrifices made were many: to make the theaters safe places to work and meet, to reschedule by reconciling the needs and lives of all, to support the artistic work, to propose a high quality festival, despite the tight schedule and endless obstacles, carrying on our cultural mission, with all the passion that characterizes us.

This summer we inhabited the woods and parks, blending nature and culture, with intimate and deep experiences, and now, in autumn, we hoped to bring the show back to its most sacred space, the theater, allowing companies to return to the stage and spectators to travel with their eyes and mind to other places.

We think we need emotions and sharing, in order to feel good mentally, not to feel lost, and to find beauty.

And therefore, after so many hopes, sorry for everything that follows, we declare: “In compliance with the provisions of the decree of the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers of 25/10/2020, which provides, among the restrictions for the prevention of contagion also the closure of theaters and cinemas, the Autumn Edition of Pergine Festival is canceled. All scheduled shows and activities are cancelled”.
