    Our summer edition

Pergine Festival 2020 – Summer Edition ended on 2 August with extremely positive results: three weekends dedicated to live entertainment, music, the search for a renewed relationship with nature and a safe return to being together.

The Summer Edition of the 45th Pergine Festival came to an end on Sunday 2nd August, and after a few months of great uncertainty, the Festival opted to divide the programme into two “seasons”, giving priority to outdoor events in the summer version that would permit the physical distance required by the new COVID-related safety regulations. This year’s Festival will certainly be remembered by the organisers, the community of Pergine and the Festival audience as the edition that has been able to keep pace with the time the world is going through, reacting positively, working with commitment to guarantee an artistic proposal that respects the identity of the longest-running entertainment festival in Trentino. At the same time, we guaranteed all the precautions requested by the current health situation.
Artistic director Carla Esperanza Tommasini affirmed: “A race against time for which it was really worth it and which allowed us to plan three weekends of performances, music and walks to rediscover a new relationship with nature. We had already planned a programme that would focus on this theme, but the current situation has made us work with more conviction for a proposal that would invite reflection on the relationship between man and the environment, now more necessary than ever”.

Great success for the new Walkabouts format, which saw small groups of spectators combining the experience of a walk in the woods with the pleasure of taking part in a performance with artists who accepted the challenge of creating – or re-creating – their work in a site-specific dimension: “The collaborations we set up,” continues the director, “have been very positive: the artists have worked together with us and the Montanamente association, letting the audience see our territory with new eyes and allowing new people to approach the Festival and the world of contemporary theatre”.

In this edition Pergine Festival explored new approaches and new spaces – besides the more traditional ones already known to our affectionate audience – the surroundings of Pergine, as in the case of the Tre Castagni Park, where THIS IS (ALSO) A MUSIC FESTIVAL, took place, the three-day music festival from 31st July to 2nd August, organized thanks to the support of the Fondazione Caritro: “This situation – explains the artistic director – combined with the common thread of the relationship with nature that has guided the Festival, has allowed us to leave the urban space, looking for new and perhaps little known places. The Tre Castagni Park, for example, is a perfect location for a music festival and we are very happy to have been able to show its potential. It is very likely that we will continue to use it as a location in the future“.

The Festival closed its Summer Edition with great satisfaction, embracing the natural environment and the open air, with the audience gathered in small groups and always respecting the COVID regulations. The appointment, with the second part of the 45th Pergine Festival, is for the autumn season: the last week of October we return to the indoor spaces of theatre to propose a survey of contemporary theatre that has always been the focus of interest at Pergine Festival. The programme will feature some well-known names on the national scene such as Oyes, Stalker Teatro and Dynamis, already appreciated several times by the Pergine Festival audience.
